

Vishesh Vikas
Dr. Vishesh Vikas transforms traditional models of mechanical engineering through his innovative research and teaching at The University of Alabama. As an Assistant Professor in the College of Engineering, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his students and colleagues. Dr. Vikas earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2011, following a Master’s degree in the same field in 2008. His academic journey began with a B.Tech. from IIT Guwahati, completed in 2005, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in engineering. Dr. Vikas' research interests lie at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, inertial sensing, and bio-inspired robotics. He is particularly fascinated by the potential of bio-inspired designs to revolutionize robotic systems, drawing inspiration from nature to solve complex engineering challenges. His work in inertial sensing and machine learning aims to enhance the autonomy and efficiency of robotic systems, making them more adaptable and intelligent. In addition to his research, Dr. Vikas is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of engineers, encouraging them to think creatively and critically about the future of technology. His commitment to education and innovation is reflected in his dynamic teaching methods and his active involvement in various academic and professional communities.
