

Mary Roaf
Focused on global perspectives in ethnic studies, Dr. Mary Roaf serves as an Associate Professor at California State University Stanislaus. With over two decades of experience in social justice and educational equity, Dr. Roaf has dedicated her career to fostering inclusive and transformative learning environments. Her research delves into critical areas such as dismantling the "school-to-prison" pipeline and exploring Black decolonial feminisms, reflecting her commitment to addressing systemic inequities in education. Dr. Roaf's dedication to exemplary decolonial pedagogy is evident in her innovative teaching methods and her receipt of the prestigious Elizabeth Papageorge Faculty Award in Teaching for the academic year 2020-21. Her work not only challenges traditional narratives but also empowers students to engage critically with issues of race, gender, and power dynamics. Currently, Dr. Roaf is serving as the Interim Chair of the Ethnic Studies Department, where she continues to lead initiatives that promote educational equity and social justice. Her leadership is characterized by a collaborative approach that seeks to uplift marginalized voices and foster a more inclusive academic community. In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Roaf is actively involved in community outreach programs that aim to bridge the gap between academia and local communities. Her efforts have been instrumental in creating partnerships that support educational access and equity for underrepresented groups.
