Ivan Pulinkala

Dr. Ivan Pulinkala has a longstanding interest in the transformative power of the arts in higher education. As the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kennesaw State University, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of the institution. His leadership is marked by a commitment to fostering innovation and excellence across all academic disciplines. Before assuming his current role, Dr. Pulinkala served as the Dean of the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University. During his tenure, he was instrumental in developing the university's first graduate degree in the arts, a significant milestone that expanded the academic offerings and enhanced the university's reputation in the arts. His efforts also led to the naming of the Bailey School of Music, reflecting his dedication to advancing the arts within the academic community. Dr. Pulinkala's contributions to Kennesaw State University began in 2005 when he founded the Program in Dance. As the director of the program until 2012, he laid the groundwork for what has become a vibrant and dynamic component of the university's arts curriculum. His vision and leadership have left a lasting impact on the program, nurturing the talents of countless students and fostering a culture of creativity and expression. In addition to his administrative roles, Dr. Pulinkala is an accomplished choreographer and educator. He has choreographed and taught for numerous professional companies and organizations, showcasing his artistic vision and expertise. His choreographic commissions include works for various dance companies and institutions, reflecting his versatility and creativity as an artist. Dr. Pulinkala's academic journey is as diverse as his professional achievements. He earned his Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama, an M.F.A in Dance from Mills College, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Hindu College, Delhi University. This unique blend of academic and artistic training informs his approach to leadership and education, enabling him to bridge the worlds of academia and the arts effectively.
