Zuxiao Zhang

Focusing on high-impact outcomes in the field of chemistry, Dr. Zuxiao Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. With a robust academic background and a diverse range of research experiences, Dr. Zhang is committed to advancing the frontiers of chemical sciences. Born and raised in China, he began his academic journey with a Master of Science from the prestigious Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, where he honed his skills in organic synthesis and chemical analysis. Dr. Zhang furthered his education by earning a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, where he focused on innovative methodologies in chemical research. His doctoral work was distinguished by its emphasis on developing new synthetic pathways and understanding complex chemical reactions, which laid the foundation for his future research pursuits. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Zhang expanded his research horizons as a postdoctoral research associate at Ohio State University. There, he collaborated with leading scientists to explore cutting-edge topics in chemistry, contributing to several high-impact publications. Before his current appointment at UH Mānoa, Dr. Zhang served as an independent researcher at Zhejiang Normal University. During his tenure, he led a research group that investigated novel chemical compounds and their potential applications in various industries. His leadership and innovative approach to research were instrumental in securing multiple research grants and fostering collaborations with international research institutions. Since joining the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa in September 2023, Dr. Zhang has been actively involved in both teaching and research.
