Dr. Tyler Ramos is a distinguished Lecturer in Music at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where he brings his extensive expertise as a musician and educator to the academic community. With a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature, complemented by a Music Theory Minor and an Arts Leadership Certificate from the esteemed Eastman School of Music, Dr. Ramos has established himself as a versatile and accomplished figure in the field of music. Throughout his career, Dr. Ramos has captivated audiences with his performances across the United States and Canada, earning numerous accolades in prestigious competitions. His dedication to the art of music is evident not only in his performances but also in his commitment to expanding the repertoire and recognition of underrepresented composers. He is particularly passionate about promoting the works of female composers and historic composers of color, which is reflected in his recent projects. These include arranging Clara Wieck-Schumann's Romances Op. 22 for piano and cello, as well as adapting Queen Lydia Lili'uokalani's melodies in the style of Franz Liszt's lieder transcriptions. In addition to his performance career, Dr. Ramos is a dedicated educator who has taught at various levels of higher education.
