William Plummer

Dr. William Plummer advocates for research-driven practices in choral music education and performance. As the Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. Dr. Plummer's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano from Berea College, followed by a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Louisville. He further honed his expertise by earning a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University. In his current position, Dr. Plummer conducts several esteemed ensembles, including the UL Lafayette Chamber Singers, the Ragin' Cajun Soprano/Alto Choir, and the UL Lafayette Tenor/Bass Chorale. His dedication to fostering musical excellence is evident in his work with these groups, where he emphasizes both technical proficiency and expressive performance. His teaching portfolio includes courses in advanced choral conducting, choral literature, and graduate-level choral conducting, where he inspires students to explore the depths of choral music.
