Dr. James Long is laying the groundwork for future advancements in engineering education and practice as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at Liberty University. With a distinguished career spanning 23 years in the United States Navy, Dr. Long achieved the prestigious qualification for Command at Sea and was honored with numerous awards for his service. His transition from military service to academia and industry has been marked by a commitment to excellence and leadership. Following his retirement from the Navy, Dr. Long ventured into the commercial nuclear power industry, where he applied his extensive knowledge and skills to enhance operational efficiency and safety. His career path also led him to the Christian Broadcast Radio industry, where he contributed to the technological and operational aspects of broadcasting. Before his current academic appointment, Dr. Long served as the IT Project Process Manager at Liberty University, where he played a pivotal role in streamlining project management processes and enhancing IT infrastructure. His expertise in project management is further underscored by his certification as a Project Management Professional, a testament to his proficiency in leading complex projects to successful completion. Dr. Long's dedication to community service is evident in his past presidency of the Johnson-Nemaha Habitat for Humanity chapter, where he worked tirelessly to support affordable housing initiatives.
