Empowering stakeholders through research on traffic safety and emerging technologies, Dr. Michael Pawlovich serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at South Dakota State University (SDSU). With a robust academic foundation, he earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University, where he honed his expertise in traffic operations and statistical analysis. Dr. Pawlovich's research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on traffic safety, traffic operations, statistical analysis, visualization, and emerging technologies. His work aims to enhance the understanding and implementation of innovative solutions in civil engineering, particularly in the realm of traffic systems. By integrating visualization techniques and statistical analysis, he seeks to improve traffic safety measures and operational efficiency. Before his tenure at SDSU, Dr. Pawlovich dedicated 17 years to the Iowa Department of Transportation as a traffic safety and crash data engineer. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in the practical applications of traffic safety and data analysis, contributing significantly to the development of safer transportation systems. At SDSU, Dr. Pawlovich is committed to advancing the field of civil engineering through both teaching and research.
