Dr. Rick Mayfield has a longstanding interest in the intricate world of theatre technology, which has guided his career as an Assistant Technical Director for the Department of Theatre & Dance at The University of Memphis. With an MFA in Theatre Technology from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Mayfield brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role, having worked in various esteemed positions across the country. Before joining The University of Memphis, Dr. Mayfield served as a Technical Director and Assistant Professor at Florida State University, where he was instrumental in developing innovative technical solutions for theatrical productions. His tenure at Oberlin College as a Technical Director and Lecturer further honed his skills in both teaching and technical direction, allowing him to mentor the next generation of theatre professionals.
