Rick Mayfield
Dr. Rick Mayfield has a longstanding interest in the intricate world of theatre technology, which has guided his career as an Assistant Technical Director for the Department of Theatre & Dance at The University of Memphis. With an MFA in Theatre Technology from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Mayfield brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role, having worked in various esteemed positions across the country. Before joining The University of Memphis, Dr. Mayfield served as a Technical Director and Assistant Professor at Florida State University, where he was instrumental in developing innovative technical solutions for theatrical productions. His tenure at Oberlin College as a Technical Director and Lecturer further honed his skills in both teaching and technical direction, allowing him to mentor the next generation of theatre professionals. Dr. Mayfield's expertise extends to his role as a Technical Director for Daytona Beach Community College, where he managed complex productions and ensured the seamless execution of performances. His commitment to safety and precision in theatre technology is underscored by his ETCP certification as a rigger and his completion of OSHA Ten Hour training, credentials that highlight his dedication to maintaining the highest standards in the field.
