

Anna Hinton
Dr. Anna Hinton is an esteemed Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of North Texas. With a profound dedication to her field, she specializes in Disability Studies and Black Literature & Culture, bringing a unique perspective to her academic endeavors. Her research is deeply rooted in exploring the intersections of post-Brown Black women's writing, Black feminist theory, critical disability studies, and reproductive justice. These areas of interest reflect her commitment to advancing understanding and scholarship in these critical domains. Currently, Dr. Hinton is engrossed in the development of her monograph, "Refusing to Be Made Whole: Disability in Contemporary Black Women's Writing." This work promises to offer insightful analyses of aesthetics, spirituality, representation, and futurity, all through the lens of Black feminist disability studies. Her scholarly pursuits aim to challenge and expand existing narratives, contributing significantly to the discourse surrounding these topics. Beyond her research, Dr. Hinton is actively engaged in various professional organizations. She plays a pivotal role in the Modern Language Association's Committee on Disability Issues in the Profession, advocating for inclusivity and representation. Her leadership extends to the College Language Association, where she serves as the Public Relations Director, and she contributes her expertise as the Book Review Editor for Studies in the Novel. Dr. Hinton's commitment to community service is evident through her involvement with the Committee for Persons with Disabilities for the City of Denton.
