Dr. Steve Warkentin is instrumental in shaping the next generation of trumpet players as an Adjunct Professor of Trumpet in the School of Music at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). With a rich educational background, he holds Performance Degrees in Trumpet from both the University of Toronto and Northwestern University, which have laid a solid foundation for his teaching and performance career. Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Warkentin has been a member of prestigious ensembles such as The National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the Chicago Civic Orchestra. His extensive performance experience includes collaborations with renowned organizations like the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Ballet, and Houston Grand Opera, showcasing his versatility and expertise in various musical settings. At SHSU, Dr. Warkentin is dedicated to fostering a supportive and challenging environment for his students, encouraging them to reach their full potential as musicians.
