Dr. Andrew Goodwin investigates challenges and opportunities in the fields of biomaterials, biosensing, and cancer imaging. As an Associate Professor in the Chemical & Biological Engineering Department at the University of Colorado Denver, he is dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of innovative technologies in these critical areas. His academic journey began with a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University CCNE. Dr. Goodwin's research is particularly focused on the synthesis, evaluation, and application of small, non-toxic droplets that are designed to become highly visible to ultrasound specifically in tumor tissues. This groundbreaking work is poised to significantly enhance the early detection and imaging of breast cancer, potentially leading to improved health outcomes and prognoses for cancer patients. Currently, Dr. Goodwin is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cancer Therapeutics Training Program at the University of California, San Diego. His work in this role continues to push the boundaries of cancer imaging and treatment, leveraging his expertise in chemical and biological engineering to develop novel solutions that address some of the most pressing challenges in oncology.
