Committed to mentoring the next generation in the field of interior design, Carrie H. Pavel is an Assistant Professor in the Interior Design department at Middle Tennessee State University. With a profound passion for architectural design and history, she specializes in examining how historical and cultural influences shape the built environment and inform design practices and education. Her academic journey began with an MA in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, where she also earned a Historic Preservation certificate and was honored with the Thesis Award for Distinguished Research. Carrie is currently advancing her expertise by pursuing a PhD, further solidifying her commitment to the academic and professional realms of design. Her research interests are deeply rooted in design practice, architectural history, and the historical and cultural influences that impact architecture. This focus not only enriches her research but also enhances her teaching, allowing her to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field. At Middle Tennessee State University, Carrie teaches a variety of courses that reflect her diverse interests and expertise. These include Interior Design Career Orientation, History of Interiors, Interior Perspective Sketching and Rendering, and Hospitality Design.
