

Loretta Wittman
Dr. Loretta Wittman is pursuing novel approaches in theatre education and performance at the University of Lynchburg, where she serves as an Associate Professor of Theatre. With an extensive background in the performing arts, Dr. Wittman brings a wealth of experience to her students, having worked as an actor, dancer, singer, director, choreographer, and educator. Her professional journey includes performances with esteemed companies such as Mill Mountain Theatre, Starlight Musicals, and Music Theatre Louisville. In addition to her performance career, Dr. Wittman has made significant contributions to the arts community in Lynchburg. She has collaborated with various arts organizations and colleges, enriching the local cultural landscape. Her role as the choreographer for the Virginia Christmas Spectacular highlights her expertise in creating captivating and dynamic performances. Dr. Wittman is also dedicated to nurturing young talent, having served as a faculty member for the Academy of Fine Art's Summer Youth Theatre Program. Her commitment to education is further demonstrated by her academic achievements; she holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) from Hollins University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Syracuse University.
