Anping Liu

Dedicated to advancing knowledge in language education and intercultural communication, Anping Liu is an esteemed associate professor at Chongqing Jiaotong University in China. Since 2023, he has been enriching the academic community as a Visiting Scholar at Pacific Lutheran University's Confucius Institute of the State of Washington and Seattle Public Schools. His extensive experience and dedication to teaching have made him a valuable asset in the field of language education. Before his current role, Professor Liu made significant contributions to the Confucius Institute at Abomey Calavi University in Benin, Africa. From 2006 to 2009 and again from 2014 to 2016, he served as a Chinese Language Teacher and Co-director, where he played a pivotal role in promoting Chinese language and culture. His work in Benin was instrumental in fostering cross-cultural understanding and expanding the reach of Chinese language education in Africa. Professor Liu's research interests are diverse and encompass several critical areas in language education. He is particularly focused on English language education and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), where he explores innovative methodologies to enhance language acquisition. His expertise in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) is equally notable, as he seeks to bridge cultural gaps through language learning. In addition to his work in language teaching, Professor Liu is deeply engaged in the study of Second Language Acquisition (SLA).
