Dr. April Akeo is renowned for her innovative approaches in nursing education and her dedication to advancing the field through her research and teaching. As an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Hawaii Pacific University, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Dr. Akeo holds a PhD in Higher Education Administration, an MSN in Education, an MBA in Health Care Administration, and a BSN, all from Hawaii Pacific University, underscoring her deep commitment to both nursing and education. With over two decades of experience as a Registered Nurse, Dr. Akeo has honed her skills in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health and Geriatrics, making her a valuable resource for students and colleagues alike. Her 17 years of teaching experience have seen her instructing a wide range of nursing courses, from introductory to advanced levels, ensuring that her students receive a comprehensive and well-rounded education. Dr. Akeo's research interests are focused on the concept of presenteeism among nursing students, a critical area that examines the impact of attending work or school while unwell.
