Riddhipratim Basu
An advocate for integrating knowledge on statistical theory and its applications, Riddhipratim Basu serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. His academic journey began at the Indian Statistical Institute, where he earned his Bachelor of Statistics (Honors) in 2009, followed by a Master of Statistics in 2011. His passion for statistics led him to the University of California, Berkeley, where he completed his Ph.D. in 2015 under the mentorship of Allan Sly. During his doctoral studies, Basu's research centered on Lipschitz embeddings of random objects, a topic that bridges the gap between theoretical statistics and practical applications. His dissertation contributed significant insights into the understanding of complex statistical models and their real-world implications. This work has laid the foundation for his ongoing research endeavors, which continue to explore the intricate relationships between statistical theory and its diverse applications. At the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Basu is known for his dedication to teaching and mentoring students, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovative thinking and problem-solving. His approach to education emphasizes the importance of a strong theoretical foundation while also highlighting the relevance of statistical methods in addressing contemporary challenges. Riddhipratim Basu's contributions to the field of statistics extend beyond academia, as he actively participates in conferences and workshops, sharing his expertise and insights with the broader statistical community. His commitment to advancing the field is evident in his ongoing research and his efforts to inspire the next generation of statisticians.
