

Rebecca Mason
Dr. Rebecca Mason is actively engaged in the academic exploration and teaching of Early Modern Spanish Literature, Gender Studies, Spanish Composition, and Education at Ohio State University. As an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Spanish & Portuguese department, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for her subjects to the classroom. Her research interests are deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of Iberian cultural and literary traditions, with a particular focus on the intersection of gender and literature. Dr. Mason earned her Ph.D. in Iberian Studies from Ohio State University in 2016, where her dissertation examined the nuanced representations of gender in Early Modern Spanish texts. Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her M.A. in Iberian and Latin American Literatures and Cultures at the University of Notre Dame in 2011. Her academic journey began with a B.A. in Spanish from Saint Mary's College in 2009, where she developed her foundational interest in Spanish language and literature. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Mason is an active contributor to scholarly discourse in her fields of interest. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, and her work has been published in several academic journals. Her dedication to education extends beyond the university setting, as she is involved in community outreach programs that promote Spanish language learning and cultural appreciation. Dr. Mason is committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment for her students. She believes in the power of literature to challenge perspectives and inspire critical thinking. Her courses are designed to encourage students to engage deeply with texts and to consider the broader social and historical contexts in which they were produced.
