Qadeer Ahmed
Dr. Qadeer Ahmed is an esteemed Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University, where he also holds a courtesy appointment with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. With a Ph.D. in Control Systems from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University in Islamabad, Pakistan, Dr. Ahmed brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his academic and research endeavors. His work is deeply rooted in the fields of diagnostics, security, and control systems, with a particular emphasis on automotive systems. As a core faculty affiliate of the Center for Automotive Research, Dr. Ahmed's research is primarily focused on the controls, optimization, and diagnostics of automotive systems. His work aims to enhance the efficiency, safety, and security of these systems, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in the automotive industry today. His research has been recognized and supported by significant funding, having secured $6 million in research awards from prestigious sources such as the US Department of Energy (DOE), the US Department of Transportation (DOT), as well as various automotive OEMs and suppliers. Dr. Ahmed's contributions to the field have been acknowledged through numerous awards. In 2018, he was honored with OSU's Lumley Research Award, followed by the SAE's Buckendale Award in 2019, and the SAE's Forest R. McFarland Award in 2022. These accolades reflect his commitment to advancing automotive research and his impact on the field. Beyond his research, Dr. Ahmed is actively involved in mentoring and guiding the next generation of engineers. He serves as the lead advisor for the Buckeye AutoDrive Team, which participates in the SAE/GM AutoDrive Challenge. Under his leadership, the team explores innovative solutions in autonomous vehicle technology, preparing students for future challenges in the automotive sector.
