Albert T. Han
Professor Albert T. Han is contributing to breakthroughs in urban planning and environmental policy as an Assistant Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. With a robust academic foundation, he earned his Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. Prior to his current role, he honed his research skills as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Calgary. Professor Han's research is at the intersection of sustainability and urban development, focusing on how growth management, land use planning, and environmental policies influence the natural environment within metropolitan areas. His work is pivotal in understanding and developing strategies that cities can adopt to balance urban growth with environmental preservation. A significant aspect of his research is exploring market-based approaches to urban planning, particularly in mitigating the impacts of climate change. He is deeply invested in studying how these strategies can enhance building energy efficiency, a critical component in reducing urban carbon footprints and promoting sustainable city living. In addition to his research, Professor Han is dedicated to educating the next generation of urban planners and policymakers. He integrates his research findings into his teaching, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities in sustainable urban development. Through his work, Professor Han aims to influence both academic discourse and practical policy-making, contributing to the creation of resilient and sustainable urban environments. His commitment to advancing knowledge in urban planning and environmental policy continues to inspire both his students and colleagues.
