Nili Gold

Dr. Nili Gold supports capacity-building efforts in the field of Modern Hebrew Literature as a distinguished Professor in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania. Her academic journey began in Haifa, Israel, where she was born and raised, and later pursued her B.A. and High School Teachers diploma at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She furthered her education in the United States, earning both her M.A. and Ph.D. from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Dr. Gold's scholarly work is deeply rooted in her passion for Hebrew and Israeli literature. She has made significant contributions to the field through her extensive research and publications. Among her notable works are "Lo Kabrosh: Gilgule Imagim Ve-tavniyot Be-shirat Yehuda Amichai" published in 1994, and "Yehuda Amichai: The Making of Israel's National Poet" released in 2008. These publications have cemented her reputation as an authority on the subject, particularly in the study of Yehuda Amichai, a pivotal figure in Israeli poetry. In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Gold is actively involved in promoting cultural understanding and appreciation through the arts. She is the co-founder of the Middle East Film Festival at the University of Pennsylvania, a platform that showcases the diverse cinematic expressions of the region.
