David Sheinberg

Dr. David Sheinberg is instrumental in shaping the field of neuroscience through his extensive research and academic contributions at Brown University. As a Professor of Neuroscience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the department, having embarked on his academic journey with an AB in Computer Science and Psychology from Yale College. His passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind led him to pursue a PhD in Cognitive Science from Brown University, where he delved into the intricacies of neural processes and cognitive functions. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Sheinberg honed his research skills through postdoctoral fellowships at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and the Max Planck Institute in Germany. These experiences enriched his understanding of neuroscience and equipped him with cutting-edge techniques and methodologies that he continues to apply in his research today. In 2000, he returned to Brown University as a faculty member, where he has since been a pivotal figure in the Department of Neuroscience. He is particularly focused on understanding the mechanisms of object recognition and visual perception, exploring how the brain processes and interprets visual information.
