Zheng Zhao

Professor Zheng Zhao is focused on real-world applications of computational techniques in the fields of bioinformatics, computational biology, and drug discovery. With dual appointments in the School of Data Science and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, he is at the forefront of integrating data science with biomedical research to advance the understanding and development of new therapeutic strategies. Professor Zhao's research is primarily centered on the use of computational chemistry and drug design to innovate and streamline the drug discovery process. His work involves developing algorithms and models that can predict the interaction of drugs with biological systems, thereby accelerating the identification of potential drug candidates. Before his tenure at the University of Virginia, Professor Zhao was an Associate Professor at the High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Hefei City, China.
