Benjamin Anderson

Benjamin Anderson is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). With a robust academic background, he earned his Master's degree in Computer Engineering and Information Assurance and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University. His academic journey laid a strong foundation for his expertise in cybersecurity and red teaming. Before embarking on his academic career at UTSA, Benjamin accumulated over a decade of experience at Sandia National Laboratories. During his tenure there, he was instrumental in leading cybersecurity assessments and red teaming initiatives, which significantly contributed to his practical understanding and application of cybersecurity principles. This experience has been invaluable in shaping his teaching philosophy and approach. At UTSA, Benjamin is deeply involved in teaching a variety of cybersecurity courses, where he shares his extensive knowledge and experience with students. He is also actively engaged in coaching cybersecurity competition teams, including the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC), Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC), CyberForce, and Hack the Port. His dedication to these teams underscores his commitment to fostering practical skills and teamwork among his students. Benjamin's research interests are primarily focused on cybersecurity and advanced red teaming. He is passionate about exploring innovative strategies and methodologies to enhance security measures and prepare for potential cyber threats.
