Dr. Monica Fung, MD, is an esteemed Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where she has made significant contributions to the field of infectious diseases. Her expertise is particularly centered on patients with compromised immune systems, such as those undergoing solid organ or stem cell transplants. Dr. Fung's dedication to her field is evident through her active involvement in clinical activities, where she attends on the Immunocompromised and General Infectious Diseases Consult Services. Additionally, she holds clinics at the 360 Wellness Center and the Infectious Diseases Faculty Practice at UCSF-Parnassus. In her role as Co-Director of the Transplant/Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases Program, Dr. Fung is at the forefront of advancing care for this vulnerable patient population. Her research is focused on the application of novel diagnostics to improve the diagnosis of infections among transplant recipients, a critical area that holds the potential to significantly enhance patient outcomes.
