Abhay Deshpande

Abhay Deshpande is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University. He also holds the position of Director of Science for the Electron Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing nuclear physics research. As the Founding Director of the Center for Frontiers in Nuclear Science, a collaborative effort between Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University, Abhay has been instrumental in fostering innovative research initiatives. His research is primarily centered on the quark-gluon structure and dynamics within protons and nuclei, aiming to deepen the understanding of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and explore the boundaries of the Standard Model of physics.
