History
Pace University was founded in 1906 as the New York School of Accountancy. The school was founded by Pace brothers James and William Pace, who were both accountants. The school originally offered only a two-year program in accounting, but it quickly expanded to offer a variety of other business programs.
In 1914, the school changed its name to Pace Institute of Business. In 1926, the institute merged with New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance to form the Pace University School of Commerce.
In 1946, Pace University was granted university status. The university continued to grow in the years that followed, adding new academic programs and campuses. In 1976, Pace University opened its first graduate school, the Lubin School of Business.
