Universidad EIA (EIA University), established in 1979, is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the small city of Envigado, Antioquia, Colombia. With a student population ranging between 10,000 and 14,999, EIA is a coeducational Colombian higher education institution officially recognized by the Ministerio de Educacion Nacional, Colombia (Ministry of National Education of Colombia).
History
The genesis of Universidad EIA can be traced back to 1961 with the establishment of the Instituto de Estudios Superiores Cooperativos (Cooperative Institute of Higher Education) as a result of the merger between the Cooperative University of Envigado and the Cooperative University of Antioquia. In 1979, the Instituto was renamed Universidad EIA (EIA University), marking a significant milestone in its history.
Over the years, Universidad EIA has undergone continuous expansion and growth. In 1986, the university expanded its academic offerings by creating the Faculty of Engineering, followed by the establishment of the Faculty of Administration in 1993. In the early 2000s, EIA further expanded its academic portfolio with the creation of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
