Housing

Traditional Residence Halls

Traditional residence halls are the most common type of housing on campus. Apartment-Style Living

Apartment-style living is available for upper-class students. Apartments typically house four to six students and include a kitchen, living room, and private bedrooms. Apartment-style living offers students more privacy and independence than traditional residence halls.

Suite-Style Living

Suite-style living is a combination of traditional residence halls and apartment-style living. Suites typically house four to six students and include a shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Suite-style living offers students more privacy and independence than traditional residence halls, but less than apartment-style living.

Off-Campus Housing

Students who prefer to live off-campus can find a variety of housing options in the surrounding community. Off-campus housing options include apartments, houses, and condos. Students who live off-campus are responsible for finding their own housing and paying their own rent.

Housing Costs

The cost of housing varies depending on the type of housing and the location of the housing. The cost of traditional residence halls ranges from \$2,000 to \$3,000 per semester. The cost of apartment-style living ranges from \$3,000 to \$4,000 per semester. The cost of suite-style living ranges from \$2,500 to \$3,500 per semester. The cost of off-campus housing varies depending on the type of housing and the location of the housing.

Housing Application

Students who are interested in living on campus must submit a housing application. The housing application can be found on the university's website. The housing application deadline is typically in March.

Housing Assignments

Housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who submit their housing applications early are more likely to get their first-choice housing. Housing assignments are typically released in May.

Sports

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore offers a variety of sports for students to participate in, including:

The UMES Hawks compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The school has won 11 MEAC championships, including five in men's basketball (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, and 2004), two in women's basketball (2002 and 2003), and one each in men's soccer (2000) and women's soccer (2004).

The UMES Hawks are also home to a number of club sports, including:
