History
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro was founded in 1891 as the North Carolina Normal and Industrial College for Women. The college was established to provide teacher training for women in North Carolina. In 1919, the college's name was changed to the North Carolina College for Women. In 1963, the college became coeducational and was renamed the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
