Bill Hicks

Professor leading studies in safety, security, and emergency management, Bill Hicks serves as the Chair of the School of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management at Eastern Kentucky University. With over two decades of experience in emergency services, occupational safety, and fire protection, Dr. Hicks is a distinguished figure in his field. His extensive background and commitment to safety are reflected in his roles as a Chief Fire Officer and a dedicated member of the Madison County Rescue Squad. Dr. Hicks is also a Search and Rescue Coordinator for the Madison County Emergency Management Agency, where he plays a crucial role in coordinating efforts to ensure community safety and preparedness. His leadership and expertise have been instrumental in advancing the university's programs and initiatives in safety and emergency management. Academically, Dr. Hicks holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology, a Master’s of Science in Loss Prevention & Safety, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. His educational background underpins his practical experience, allowing him to bridge the gap between theory and practice effectively.
