Scott Rawls

Focused on real-world applications of music performance and education, Scott Rawls is a distinguished professor of Viola and Chamber Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. With a career that spans continents, Rawls has toured extensively as a violist with the renowned ensemble Steve Reich and Musicians, gracing major music centers worldwide with his exceptional talent and artistry. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Rawls serves as the principal viola for both the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and the Palm Beach Opera orchestra. His dual roles in these prestigious ensembles underscore his commitment to both performance excellence and the nurturing of future generations of musicians. Rawls's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University, followed by a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
