Shannon Staton
Professor advancing research in community engagement and culturally competent practice, Shannon Staton is an Associate Professor of Practice and Director of Field Education in the Department of Social Work at Ball State University. With a robust academic foundation, she earned her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Ball State University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Indiana University. Since 2003, Shannon has been a licensed social worker (LSW) in Indiana, bringing a wealth of practical experience to her academic role. Shannon's professional journey is deeply rooted in empowering individuals with disabilities. Her extensive experience includes roles as a behavior specialist, where she developed and implemented programs tailored to the needs of adults and children with disabilities. Her counseling expertise has been instrumental in supporting individuals to achieve greater independence and improved quality of life. In addition to her academic and professional commitments, Shannon is actively involved in community service and volunteer work. She serves on the Board of Directors for A Better Way, an organization dedicated to providing support and resources for individuals in crisis. Her involvement in community initiatives underscores her commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive environments.
